December 2014 MPP - All Shook Up!

Love this months My Paper Pumpkin kit. I really like shaker cards and rarely get the time to make them. Need to do so more often. I also like the cut out words.

November My Paper Pumpkin - Simply Snowflake

Love this kit. It makes 8 cards and 12 tags. My class was on Sat. Unfortunately, most had to cancel for various reasons, so it was just me and Margarethe. We had fun: stamping, visiting and eating cake. I'd made a Pistachio Cake. Bonnye helped us and pretended she was stamping too. Jacob came out to chat with us when we finished stamping.

My samples. I added some teen tiny pearls to the stamped snowflake on my card and a larger one to one of the tags vs. the rhinestone that came in kit. I also stamped the snowflurry in white on one of them vs Lost Lagoon per instructions.

November Sr. Center Cards

This visit we made Christmas cards. I had pre-stamped and cut out the wreaths using the "Wondrous Wreath" stamp set and Wonderful Wreath Framelits for the card on left (sentiment from MPP kit). Colors used are Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler. The card on the right is made using the stamps that came with this month's My Paper Pumpkin Kit Simply Snowflake. Color used is Lost Lagoon.

We also had some cake for Shirley's birthday after we finished stamping and they had their lunch. Which is on the 22nd.

Isn't she adorable!

October My Paper Pumpkin - Sweet as Pie.

This month's kit "Sweet as Pie" is another that I will be able to use for my red hat group. Will update with a picture of the full pie later. No one was able to make it to my class (had to reschedule once as they were delayed arriving due to holidays and then I had to reschedule a second time due to whole family being sick). Everyone had to cancel on the make-up date for various reasons. So we opted to skip it. Margarethe and Melodye gave me their kits as they said they wouldn't use them, so I didn't need to order more and used them for my red hat group.

Boo-tiful Bags Class

Margarethe, Melodye and Jennifer got the September My Paper Pumpkin kits and came over on the 27th to put them together. Melodye brought some 3D pumpkins and ghosts to share with everyone. She and Margarethe also brought candy to fill the bags with (I was so glad when they called to see if I needed any, as I had been without a car all week and unable to go get some as planned). I cut out ghosts and pumpkins using the Fun Fall Framelit Dies and punched some bats with a retired punch. Stamped pumpkin faces with the Fall Fest stamp set (bundle with dies and stamps #137628, $34.75 in Holiday mini).

Added a few things to the bags I had done already.

September My Paper Pumpkin - Boo-tiful Bags!

Love, love, love this month's MPP! They revealed it at convention in July, so those that went shared pics and I have been anxiously awaiting it since then. Can't wait to get together with my customer's that signed up for it and are coming over on the 27th to put them together and adding a few things to it. This kit comes with 6 bags and lots of labels. Also, plan to make some cards with the leftover elements and a few of the extra tags.

VCRocks Final Blog Hop!

I decided to jump in for our final VCRocks Blog Hop. The theme is

Rock Your Creativity with Stampin' Up! Colors!

I needed to make an anniversary card for my Son and DIL's 3rd anniversary which was on the 21st, so  I decided to take care of that and my entry for this blog.  The past couple of years my favorite color combo is Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler and either Kraft or now Baked Brown Sugar. I generally use Very Vanilla to stamp on, but I had this flower from the "Blooming with Hope" Hostess stamp set already done on Whisper White and colored in using my new Cherry Cobbler abd Old Olive Blendabilities, so I decided to use it. Love the Blendabilities! Sorry the pictures aren't better, just couldn't get the lighting right and they came out kinda pale looking, but the colors are very vibrant in real life.

I love how smooth the transition from light to dark is using the Blendabilities.
The really are very easy to use.

You can't tell in the picture, but the flower is popped up with dimensionals as well as the sentiment. For the sentiment I used the Decorative Label and the Word Window punches. and the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" stamp set.

Wish I had more time to make another card, but it just wasn't available, but FYI, my other favorite color combos are Tempting Turquoise, Real Red and Daffodil Delight. I also love Coastal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar.

Wait, I can share a previous card I made with the Coastal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar, so here ya' go!

The stamp set used for this card is "Wetlands"

Be sure and hop over to the VCRocks blog to check out the other great projects being shared in this hop!

VCRocks Virtual Stamp Day (VSD)

Saturday we were challenged to make cards following certain challenges. 6 challenges (1 card and/or 1 scrapbook page). I wasn't able to do them that day as it was DH's birthday, but did get them done on Sunday, since if you could not do within the 2hrs. between each challenge we had until noon on Monday to complete, but the goal was to try to keep each project within a 30 min completion from start to finish. I only did 4 of the cards and 2 of the scrapbook pages, but it was a lot of fun to do what I could. Here are my submissions:
Didn't do Challenge 1.

Challenge #2 Card
Make a 1-layer card (I did 2, just slightly different from each other)

I used "Hit the Road" and Sassy Salutations stamp sets.
Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Soft Sky

Challenge #2 Scrapbook Page
Make a Fall Scrapbook page using Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso and Daffodil Delight

"Gently Falling" stamp set

Challenge #3 Card
Make a card using (at least) 3 colors within the same family.

"Mixed Bunch" stamp set. Sentiment is from one of the My Paper Pumpkin kits.
I used 4 colors from the Brights Family.
Card stock Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive

Challenge #4 Card
Make a card using the sketch provided on http://operationwritehome.org/sketch-challenge-236  (I made 2 of this one as I accidently applied Challenge #1 rules to it and used the same colors in sample on website, I then did it in the colors I had envisioned when I first red it)

"Sea Street" and "Sassy Salutations" stamp sets
Card stock: Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red and Daffodil Delight

Card stock: Whisper White, Real Red, Coastal Cabana, Night of Navy, Maritime Designer Series Paper

Challenge #5 Card
Make a card using your favorite technique.
I LOVE using embossing folders. So easy and add so much to a card. I needed a wedding card for someone and decided to take this opportunity to get it done. The embossing folder I used is retired.  I spritz the card with some shimmer paint and added pearls.

Card stock: Whisper White, Real Red, Daffodil Delight

Challenge #5  Scrapbook Page
Make a Summer Vacation scrapbook page. We had 4 different themes to chose from and I chose Bring the kids. I did it on My Digital Studio (MDS) and of course, used pictures of my adorable granddaughter, Bonnye.

August Sr. Center Cards

Yesterday was my monthly visit to the Westmoreland Active Lifestyle Center in Colonial Beach. I love going there each month and making cards with these ladies and we have a couple of new attendees and expect more possibly starting next month. Yeah! I do use both current and retired stamp sets and cardstock and the occasional non-Stampin' Up! item that a friend of mine donates to me for them to use or what they have in stock there. More of the ladies coming are doing their own stamping. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a picture of theirs before they put them away and only got ones of the ones that I put stamped and put together for the ladies that can't do it themselves. They do pick out the stamps they want and the sentiment and the color of cardstock to use, I do the rest for them, but I still have them put their name or initials on the back and they feel like they did do it all themselves.

Afterwards we had a little birthday lunch and celebration for the Center Manager, Cindy and one of the attendees, Gail. I was asked to put together a card for them for everyone to sign as well. Luckily, I had some flowers I had done to practice with my new Blendabilities, so I used them.

The first 2 are the cards I made for the birthday girls.
The one on the far right, one of the ladies used to make a card for her and hubby's upcoming anniversary.

Pre-printed cards that my friend donated and we added the sentiment. (Sassy Salutations)

 Retired set - Cat's Meow

New stamp set - Age Awareness
Flower was donated 3D stickons.

Can't celebrate a birthday without a yummy cake!

Happy 4th, Happy Birthday using June My Paper Pumpkin

Hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July!

Happy 2nd Birthday to my darling granddaughter, Bonnye!

The June MPP made up to 24 pinwheels and also included 24 cello bags. There have been many projects made using the kit: Wreaths, bows, boxes, cards, banners. I plan to make a wreath with them for next year and I also started a banner, but didn't get it finished. I also saved a couple to make bows. I'm so glad that since I am a subscriber to MPP, I have the opportunity to purchase a refill kit and plan to do so as I want to make more things with these. They were so much fun. The two on Bonnye's cake will be flattened and saved to use on a scrapbook page for her birthday pics.

Open House a Success!

I had a good turnout for my Open House. Margarethe and Melodye came and they invited Sandy, whom I haven't seen in years and she brought a friend, Debborah. Jennifer, a new customer was able to come, so I got to meet her for the first time. She is the daughter of a friend of a friend and just recently moved here. Things went well, even though I was in major disorganized mode. I had things out, but never got a chance to pre-cut paper, but it gave everyone a chance to pick their own color combos from the colors I had out. I cut the colors desired after they stamped. Since the cards were very basic, it was easy to do.

These are the Attendance Gifts I gave them. I got the instructions for them here.

They had an assortment of colors to chose from.

They got to play with the Blendabilities I have and did very well with them. They made one card using them and the Blended Bloom and Sassy Salutations stamp sets. We also made a card using the Work of Art stamp set and some of the new 2014-'16 In Colors. Here are the samples I made to show them what we were doing. The zig-zag card I just made while they were stamping to show them how easy it was to line it up, even without the Stamp-a-ma-jig. A few did their own thing with the Work of Art set, so that was great to see. I wish I'd taken pictures of theirs.

May 2023 MPP - Exploring In Color

I LOVE this month's cards, especially the ones with the buffalos. They remind me of our trip to hubby's sister's country home in...
